Wawasee took its mats and practice gear outside on Wednesday, enjoying some fun in the sun during its latest training session.

It’s not a common practice for Indiana wrestlers to train outdoors in November. Well, when it’s 70 degrees and sunny in northern Indiana after Halloween, you take advantage.

Mother Nature provided a picturesque setting over Wawasee on Wednesday, allowing the wrestling program to take its mats outside and work under the unseasonable warmth of a friendly sky. Warrior Field provided the confines for the outdoor session, a couple hours for the young men and women of the program to get in some quality time on the mats in a relaxed setting.

There’s still over two weeks left before the 2022-23 lid lifter at Bellmont, but the program is hard at work at all levels, including the addition of the six girls currently comprising the Wawasee Girls Wrestling program, an IHSAA Emerging sport for the calendar year.

Check in with our schedule for upcoming dates and events, and keep up with the website in the coming weeks as Wawasee Wrestling gets going with opportunities both on and off the mats.
