The season is still very young, and with it, Wawasee’s first foray on home soil is abound this weekend.

Wawasee will host the annual November Duals, looking to defend its title.

Among the competition will include outfits from Warsaw in what will serve as a Northern Lakes Conference matchup, as well as duals with North Miami, South Bend Washington, Fort Wayne South Side and Fairfield.

The No. 6-ranked Warriors come into the super dual on the heels of a 36-34 loss at No. 3-ranked Bellmont last Friday.

Wawasee will draw the favorite straw in all five of its duals, but will see the annual rivalry ire with the Tigers, which boast of a few talented returning individuals. Look for solid showdowns against Warsaw’s core quartet of Bryce McNees, Coo Walters, Issac Beam and Gideon Castro, of which Castro is regarded as one of the region’s top 285 pounders.

North Miami may not have a deep-rooted history, but has had some individual success over the years and boasts of one of the top 113-pound talents in Spencer Flood, who is among the ranked competitors in the Fort Wayne semi-state.

After performing very well against Bellmont last week, Wawasee saw many of its wrestlers get a boost in the regional rankings, including 106-pound Kaleb Salazar, who is now the top-ranked suitor in the East Chicago semi-state.

Wawasee’s performance order will see South Bend Washington in round one, followed by Warsaw, Fairfield, North Miami and Fort Wayne South Side. Action is slated to begin at 9 a.m. and tickets are $8.
