History continues to be made in the Wawasee girls wrestling program.

A few weeks ago, Brooke Catron signed to continue her wrestling career at Manchester University, the first girls wrestler to sign a National Letter of Intent from the Wawasee wrestling program. Catron will now be joined by classmate Ciara Rodriguez, who signed her National Letter of Intent with the Spartans Wednesday afternoon.

Rodriguez wrestled with Wawasee for two seasons, advancing to the semi-state level of the IHSGW girls state tournament. Rodriguez, named the girls MVP for the 2023-24 season, was also named a Second Team Academic All-State selection this year.

Rodriguez has been active at Wawasee, also a performer in soccer, softball, and track and field and has been named a Warrior Way Award winner, Scholar Athlete and A/B Honor Roll. She carries an 8.94 GPA (12-scale) and is ranked 72nd in her graduating class.

At Manchester, Rodriguez will compete for head coach Trevor Young and will pursue a degree in Physical Education.

“It feels like my environment and I love the people and the campus,” noted Rodriguez on her choice to join the Spartans.
