The sectional storm had died down Saturday afternoon in Elkhart, only for the high program to return to Syracuse to put in more work.

Following the boys basketball game Saturday night against Lakeland, Wawasee reconstructed the annex gym and the Hardwood Teepee into wrestling arenas ahead of the Wawasee Folkstyle Open and IHSWCA Middle School State Qualifier, both held Sunday at Wawasee High School.

The Folkstyle tourney brought in over 200 young wrestlers from 32 clubs in six age groups starting with 6-U and working up to 16-U. The Qualifier had over 100 wrestlers from 30 different clubs compete as part of the state ladder that will continue into February.
