Wawasee sophomore Ethan Rodriguez finished third at the Freshman/Sophomore showcase at Southport over the weekend.
High school season is officially over, but a few of our Wawasee wrestlers took part in the Freshman/Sophomore competition this past weekend at Southport in an effort to build for their own futures.
Five of Wawasee’s underclassmen and women took to the massive event featuring young talent from all over the Hoosier state. Highlighting the work from the Wawasee crew was sophomore Ethan Rodriguez, who went 5-1 in the 152 bracket to take third overall. His only loss was to eventual champion Silas Foster of Purdue Polytechnic in the semis via a major.
Kenidi Nine was the other placer among the five, taking sixth in the girls 143 bracket.
Carson Nine went 1-2 at 160 and both Luke Stuckman at 106 and Derek Morrison at 195 were 0-2 in their mat matches.
